Ohuruogu will participate in Commonwealth Games

British sprinter Christine Ohuruogu refuses to jump on the bandwagon over security fears and insists she will defend her Commonwealth title at the Games in Delhi.

The England team will decide whether or not they will participate in the Games in September, but security is a significant issue following the attack on the Togo football team's bus at the African Nations Cup in Angola.

Britons Paula Radcliffe and Jessica Ennis have already confirmed they will not compete in the India event, but have cited sporting rather than security reasons.

However, while Olympic 400m champion Ohuruogu has revealed her main focus this year is the European Championships in Barcelona, the 25-year-old is adamant she fully intends to compete in Delhi Commonwealth Games in October.

"I'm sure India will provide adequate security during Commonwealth Games because not to provide the necessary security measures would be negligent.

"I don't think that will happen because it would be a huge embarrassment if they don't have what's required. We had the same issue before the Athens Olympics (in 2004) when there was a bomb threat and then there was talk of a boycott before Beijing (in 2008) as well.

"You have to be sensible and not jump on the bandwagon and say, 'I'm not going'."
