India's perception towards sports seems to be changing and some of the credit can go to Commonwealth Games. Today, India is looking at alternatives to Cricket and the same is visible in India's resurgence in sports like Boxing, Formula 1 and Badminton. On Monday India's first-ever international standard sport climbing wall was inaugurated which will give a boost to the adventure sports in the country.
Sport climbing is a style of rock climbing and the walls used for the discipline has permanent anchors fixed to the surface which is used by the climbers.
The 15-meter state-of-the-art wall has two climbing surfaces - difficulty wall and speed wall. Three persons can climb on the difficulty wall le two can compete on the speed wall simultaneously.
This is the first sport climbing wall of its kind and the features will attract not only the Indian climbers but also internationally acclaimed climbers to take part in future competitions in India.
The new infrastructure will enable IMF (Indian Mountaineering Foundation) to organize World Cup or World Championships in India in future which will add another field of adventure competitions in the country.
